The Doug Odell Scholarship Fund

Named after one of FLG's founding members, our Doug Odell Scholarship Fund awards financial support to area students attending a 4-year college or university program or a 2-year technical program of their choosing.

OUR 2025 GOAL: $20,000

Since launching The Doug Odell Scholarship Fund in 2020, we have awarded 12 graduating seniors from Blue Ridge School and Early College and Summit Charter School with money towards their continuing education at the university, college, community college, technical or trade school of their choice. The Doug Odell Scholarship has also awarded 5 current college students who were prior winners of the scholarship.  

About the Scholarship: 

The Scholarship is named after Doug Odell, one of the founding members of Friends of Lake Glenville who served the organization for many years in various capacities. He was instrumental in shaping FLG’s core mission: to preserve, protect, educate and advocate for the continued beauty, integrity, safety, and survival of Lake Glenville. 

Each year, successful applicants will be awarded up to $5000 towards a 4-year college or university or up to $2500 for a 2-year program. Previous winners may also be eligible for additional funds pending qualification. Additionally, we are hoping to create a reserve for the continued success and perpetuity of the fund.
