Important Water Quality Update - July 27, 2024
Please note that Duke Energy has posted signs at the Pine Creek Access Area that read: “Warning: Unsafe for Swimming. Swimming in this area is not recommended. Bacteria testing indicates levels of contamination that may be hazardous to your health. This advisory affects areas within 200ft. of this sign.” Duke Energy has also posted the following on their website “the swim beach is closed until further notice due to water quality testing results."
Duke Energy has not provided any details regarding this testing to us or the community. We do not know if this contamination is only limited to the beach area or more widespread in the lake. Duke will retest the water at the access area on Monday July 29th and we will post further information/advisories at that point.
In conflict with Duke Energy’s test results, The Watershed Association of the Tuckasegee River posted sample results from the Pine Creek Access area today (7/27/24) and the water “met water quality standards”.
We will continue to keep you updated as we learn the facts.

Lake Glenville Water Quality Report - February 2024
Water quality samples were collected from Lake Glenville at seven (7) locations in February of 2024. Five of the locations are in coves near the outlet of major streams within the watershed: Mill Creek, Hurricane Creek, Norton Creek, Glenville Creek, and Pine Creek. These creeks are also routinely sampled for a suite of water quality parameters, increasing the knowledge and understanding of the specific issues of the watershed, such as identifying potential sources of pollutants which may be degrading water quality.
